From Video of the Day, to Video of the Week, and More

I’ve decided having one featured video each day, is a bit much. Apart from the difficult task of watching at least half a dozen videos each day, and selecting the best, I’ll also eventually run out of videos at this rate. So from now on I’ll be doing one video per week, every Monday. That’s today, kids!

On a related note, I’ve also been thinking about my “features”, ie; blog of the week, site of the week, etc.

From now on, this are the features and when they will appear:

Mondays

  • Video of the week
  • Plans update

Tuesdays

  • Blog of the week

Wednesdays

  • Site of the week
  • Destination Itinerary

Thursdays

  • Book/Music/Movie Review

Fridays

  • Site of the Week

Saturdays

  • Where the heck is that?
  • Last weeks’ Where-the-heck revealed

Sundays

  • Best of the Blog: Last week

Anytime

  • Feature Photos

Video Of The Day: Backpacking in Xinjiang, China

[youtube Da7HEdctlDU nolink]

Another video by michaelewald1980 which is even more inspiring than the Cambodian one…When i go traveling, i have a particular interest in China and intend to spend as long as possible there (I heard there’s 90-day multiple entry visas?) so i particularly liked this video.

Video Of The Day: Hirschberg

An interesting video entitled “Hirschberg” about one guy’s attempt to scale a mountain near Munich, Germany. Enjoy!

New Wordpress Theme (Modification)

I made a massive modification to my old theme…so now I’ve pretty much got a new theme for my blog. It’s a dark grey/red color scheme, and I’ve added a top-bar thingo for my up-coming sites. Pretty much just a navigation bar for my “network”.

On a related note; If anyone has any ideas for a blog subject/niche, or if someone would like me to host their blog, then feel free to contact me. I’m looking for people to post on some new blog ideas i have, so don’t hesitate. Of course all revenue will be split.

Blog of the Week: Sixintheworld.com

Leaving your job and your career to travel and explore the world for a year is pretty crazy, right? Well what about taking your wife and FOUR kids with you? Insane, right? Impossible? Not so!

Sixintheworld.com follows a family of six around the world over 6 continents and 31 countries. It’s an inspiring story for not along RTW-ers, and Travlers, but aspiring families aswell. Check it out

A video about backpacking in Cambodia by michaelewald198. I found it very inspiring - check it out!

Massive Increase In Visitors

Hrmmm somehow my Unique Visitors went from 17 (yesterday) to 43 (today). That’s a massive jump - and that’s only so far. There’s still over an hour and a half left of today. I’m aiming for 50 by the end of the night! Maybe this is a good time to set some realistic goals.

I suppose this might just be a one-off, so tomorrow the number might be back down around 20 or so…But that’s okay. So i can’t expect to be up to 50 again tomorrow, so i’ll try to be realistic. Here are my goals:

  • 25 Uniques/Day within 2 weeks
  • 50 Uniques/Day within 2 months
  • 100+ Uniques/Day within 6 months

Now, that’s not unreasonable. I think that’s achievable as well. Good luck to me!

Video Of The Day: A Year In The Life (Asia)

[youtube TNm27nWNY9c nolink]

This guy is one of the first RTW bloggers i read. I don’t think it was really a blog - I think he typed up his journal when he got home and put it on the web. Anyway, he traveled around the world, starting in Japan (leaving from England) in 2004, i think, and this is his first video; of his Asian journey. I won’t spoil the story for those who want to read it, so here’s the link;

Video Of The Day: Skateboarding In India

I found this video on lonelyplanet.tv and it’s really awesome. It makes me want to go to India, even though there’s not many sights or interesting things in this video…just some guy skating around. But it still wets my appetite for travel…e
