A while ago, i wanted to spend a lot of time on my journey in places like Japan, Thailand, Europe, etc. I knew that was going to be expensive, but I though…what the heck, it’s my only chance anyway. I had a sort of mind set where this journey was a once-off, as if i wasn’t going to travel again in my lifetime. I also thought that other areas like the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, etc, where somehow less interesting than Western Europe and South-East Asia.

I’ve come to the conclusion that i was completely wrong. The middle east (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.), Africa (Egypt in particular) and Eastern Europe (Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Slovenia, Croatia, etc.) seem a lot more interesting now.

I think, now, I’ll be devoting a larger amount of my traveling time to the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it to Africa on this initial journey, but once I’ve based myself in England, and I’m going to University, I’ll be able to travel relatively easily, since all those places I want to go to will be so much closer.
